Dengan <em>GST pada kadar <strong>6%<\/strong><\/em> pengilang akan menjual baju itu pada harga RM106.00 kepada pemborong. Cukai yang dibayar pemborong adalah RM6.00 yang dikutip oleh pengilang bagi pihak kerajaan. Di sini, walaupun pemborong telah membayar RM6.00 untuk GST kepada pengilang, RM6.00 tersebut boleh dituntut kembali dari kerajaan. Oleh itu kos pemborong kekal pada RM100.00.<\/p>\n<p>Sekiranya pemborong ingin membuat <em>keuntungan sebanyak <strong>20%<\/strong><\/em>, maka harga jualan pemborong kepada peruncit hanyalah sebanyak RM120.00 dan bukan RM132.00 seperti dibawah Cukai Jualan. Dengan harga jualan RM120.00, GST yang dikenakan ialah RM7.20.<\/p>\n<p>Di peringkat seterusnya, sekiranya peruncit ingin membuat 30% keuntungan dari harga RM120.00 tadi, maka baju tersebut akan dijual pada harga RM165.00 kepada pengguna.<\/p>\n<p>Dalam contoh ini kita dapat lihat bagaimana harga baju tersebut akhirnya menjadi lebih rendah.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>SST (Sales and Service Tax)<\/em> <\/strong>mempunyai kelemahan yang tidak boleh diperbaiki. Sebagai jalan penyelesaian kita perlu menyusun semula sistem percukaian negara untuk menjadi lebih efisyen, berkesan dan telus. Inilah kelebihan sistem GST. Dengan GST pengguna akan tahu berapa cukai yang dibayar pada setiap pembelian. Peniaga juga tidak boleh mengelak daripada membayar cukai dengan melakukan pindahan harga (Transfer pricing).<\/p>\n<p>Kadangkala kita juga dikenakan sejenis lagi pembayaran ketika mendapatkan perkhidmatan, iaitu <strong><em>caj perkhidmatan atau service charge<\/em><\/strong> terutamanya di <em>restoran atau hotel.<\/em> Caj perkhidmatan tersebut bukan GST. <em>Caj perkhidmatan pada kadar <strong>10%<\/strong><\/em> adalah amalan yang dipraktikkan oleh industri hospitaliti.<\/p>\n<p>Caj ini dikutip oleh pemberi perkhidmatan sebagai dana terkumpul mereka sendiri untuk diagihkan kepada pekerja. <em>Caj ini dianggap sebagai satu bayaran tips.<\/em> Ini bukan cukai yang dikutip bagi pihak kerajaan.
